Research Advisory Committee

Unearthing the latest trends in volunteering.

Recognising the vital contribution that research makes in informing evidence-based policy and supporting best-practice in the sector, Volunteering WA runs a research committee and has been doing so for many years. Consistent research has the power to reveal sector insights, which in turn and provides a pathway for Volunteering WA to best service volunteer involving organisations.

Research Advisory Committee

The Research Committee is an advisory committee to the CEO and Senior Management of Volunteering WA and reports to the Board of Volunteering WA, through the CEO. The Research Committee includes researchers from the major universities in WA and representatives from the Department for Communities and Volunteering WA. It meets quarterly as a Committee and hosts research related events and networking sessions.

Members of the Research Committee:

Network for Researchers

The Research Committee supports a growing community of WA researchers with an interest in volunteering as a field of research. We encourage networking amongst researchers at all stages of their career, to share their work, develop connections, and find potential collaborations with member-organisations.

Participants have the opportunity to:

  • receive and submit features to the Volunteering Research Digest to stay updated on the latest statistics, research funding rounds, case studies of organisations who implement or adopt research findings.
  • Invitations to contribute on volunteering issues and attend focus groups.

Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group

Volunteering WA Reconciliation Action Plan | Working Group

The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a part of our key strategies which support Volunteering WA’s purpose to empower people and communities to enrich Western Australia. At its heart, our RAP represents our commitment to strengthen relationships with the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Lands on which we work, rest and play.

As the peak body for volunteering, Volunteering WA is in a unique position to support reconciliation through championing and strengthening the volunteering sector. Volunteering WA will ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander volunteers, volunteer managers, organisations and knowledge-experts are included in the discussions and forums that will elevate, and future-proof volunteering, and ultimately empower the Western Australian community.

  • Tina Williams, CEO, Volunteering WA

  • Traci Gamblin, Deputy CEO
