Meet Eva and Hannah, two of many volunteers who are lending a hand at Western Australia’s Sculpture by the Sea exhibition, an annual display of artwork on the iconic Cottesloe coastline.
They’ve been brought together by their shared passion for Sculpture by the Sea. This is the first time volunteering at the event for each of them, and they’re excited to go behind-the-scenes and help others connect with the artworks.
Hannah has an Art History degree, which is something she has never been able to work in. Now, she has the chance to flex her art knowledge in a way that benefits the community.
Retiree Eva has volunteered at a few other organisations, but joining the Sculpture by the Sea volunteer team has given her a community and something to “keep her busy”.
Both Eva and Hannah will be doing a variety of tasks as Sculpture by the Sea volunteers including welcoming visitors, selling merchandise, assisting artists, and helping to keep the event running smoothly.
Sculpture by the Sea is running until 23 March 2026.
Volunteer applications for 2027 will open in early 2027.
