The term ‘volunteering’ covers a wide diversity of activities in Australian society. It includes formal volunteering that takes place within organisations in a structured way and informal volunteering, acts that take place outside the context of a formal organisation.
Volunteering Australia introduced the definition of volunteering in 2015. The definition includes a set of explanatory notes, a detailed Issues Paper that provides background and context, and a set of FAQs.
